Cactus Sue And Other Tales Of The Unseen Thorn
Cactus Sue's got long sharp thorns
To keep from making friends
It's not like she wants enemies
Or afraid to make amends

There's just something broke inside
I'm not sure what the cause
That makes her shy away from folks
When friendship gives her pause

She'll always do some stupid thing
Feigned anger if you're near
To drive you back from being close
To alleviate her fear

Why are special folks that way
What wound do they still bear
To think that friends are bad trips
Or sure we won't be there

Did someone let her down too hard
Or stole behind her back
Refused reciprocation
What was it that they lacked

Cactus Sue your friendship smile
Lights up the very sky
You'll not be chasing me away
And here's the reason why

The cure for your affliction
Is a friend who's tried and true
Give me a try I promise
I will be there for you

Your thorns and barbs don't hurt me
My skin's as tough as leather
Don't try to drive or back me down
I'm here despite your weather

Keep your gloomy skies within
Frosty moods I melt away
Bolts of lightning always sheathed
This friend has come to stay
