| First Winter Frost |
| The moon breeze rolled across the dunes While air sat heavy on the land Last light streaked fingers through the ruins Cloud shadows lay on the sand Far off I stand watchful at my post Jealously guarding my love for you As night sneaks in slowly from the coast And sprinkles diamonds with its dew Hells steam shoots up from manhole covers To be run down by streaming cars The clink of glass toasts new found lovers In dim lit and smoke filled bars Then the one I fear must someday come Like a wraith arrives unseen For him you will be a conquered one His love untrue and unclean What drew this veil across my sight And left my vision dark What stole my love this long dark night Leaving on my heart this mark Nothing to guard nor things to see My mission somehow lost I wander dazed and aimlessly Unaware of the first winter frost |
