To tell the truth I’m not all that
What people do perceive
I’m a quiet lonely gentle soul
This fact you must believe
No knight in shiny armor clad
Like a sir from days of old
But when I put my pen in hand
I become a bit more bold
I rail against injustice seen
To speak with common voice
I could sit back not have a care
But I made another choice
No legacy do I expect
Remembered down the line
No statue for a pigeon perch
That’s not a goal of mine
Truth be know it breaks my heart
The path my country takes
We’ve lost our way from ocean shore
To the depths of the Great Lakes
Reviled by those we once called friend
Who joined in wars we fought
All our good that went before
I guess was done for naught
So to my children I must say
Don’t copy what you see
For our actions on this very day
Aren’t acts of a land that’s free.
Yes son your dad's a hippie
And a hippie he'll remain
The fight to improve your future
Is not some video game
Warrior son and hippie dad
We're really quite a pair
And if somebody fucks with us
They'll wish they'd not gone there
Come stand with me back to back
We’ll take all comers on
Let’s kick some ass hippie style
Till this evil’s finally gone
