Magnetism And Other Tales Of Attraction
You know…
They say that opposites attract
Like we're some absurd human magnet
But we know better
We are what we are
We like what we like
Opposites don't attract
I was sitting in my car
The motor running
When she dove in through my window
And said drive, go, hurry
I just ripped off a Vice Cop
I had seen her around
Hanging with the same crowd as me
Briefly here, then there
I was the ladies man
I liked them small and dainty
Fragile and precious
She was a man girl
A jungle fighter
In flannel shirt camouflage
Levis, and work boots
To hide her figure
A butterfly knife in her hip pocket
To protect her from the men she hated
She was a disease
With a chronic giggle
And an infectious smile
I drove
I didn't know to where
She didn't care
We drove for a while
And ended up at my house
A room in the pool house
Next to the Jacuzzi
I don't think she understood
Why she was there
Or why she was attracted to me
Or why I would be
Attracted to her
But I was
We talked for too long
Till there was nothing left
To say with words
She let me strip away
Her camouflage
She let me see
Her woman uncovered
She let go
Of who she was
She let herself surrender
To my touch
She caressed me gently
And giggled
And smiled as I probed
Deep into her
We stayed in that bed
For almost a week
Exploring ourselves
As we explored each other
Till it was time to go
I took her back to the spot
Where we had met
We kissed each other
One last time
And she disappeared
Back into the night
Back into the streets
A jungle fighter
A man woman warrior
On a mission
I never saw her again
Others had seen her
Here and there
But I never sought her out
My little soul magnet
That could never be
We were opposites
And everyone knows...
Opposites don't attract
