The CurlingIron
I bought a curling iron at the second hand store
Thinking it would remind me of you
But all I could remember was waiting and waiting
While you messed with your hair and bathed for hours
Driving me crazy before we could drive anywhere

I found a penny lying in the street and took it home
I was thinking about your brown penny loafers
And those shiny pennies in the slot
But this one had been run over like our love
So I tossed it in my penny jar with the others

    I thought I'd take a walk yesterday
It was such a soft and gentle light rain
I left my umbrella in the closet
Then it started feeling like our love late on
As it turned into a god damn tempest

I saw an old Datsun the other day
It got me thinking about the white one you drove
About how much you adored it
And how pissed you were when I wrecked it
Hey I didn't run the red light, but you never forgave me

I passed by the little house on Marian Place
Where the garden grew in back and our love grew inside
Then I remembered the asshole who moved next door
Ended up driving us both crazy before chasing us away
If I saw him today, I'd kick his ass again without you saying don't

Well I plugged in the curling iron this morning
And I blew out the main damned fuse
    Figures that would happen
Maybe I'll see if the second hand store takes returns
I'd like to get my thirty nine cents back
