| The Porch |
| I watch the hummingbird slowly beat her wings Flashing rainbows in a cacophony of color Every feather showing clear and sharp As she slowly turns her head to look at me Cars and SUV's go rolling by Spinner 20's shower sparkles in dusks last light And they pass by my porch at 5 mph Their drivers turning heads slowly to look at me Old man moon in harvest mode His sad stare shimmering in the summer heat Sits glued to his spot above my Jacaranda And turns slowly to look at me A woman holding baby stroller Front wheels raised to leap the curb Seemingly frozen in her awkward stance While babe within rolls slowly to look at me Mosquito glides in slowly to dine Parting my arms hair slowly but deliberately Syringe descends to finally meet bloods flow Her 1000 eyes turn slowly to look at me Here I sit while time quietly passes Awaiting your return that never comes Your loving gaze never again to meet mine And each minute now an eternity of sorrow As time turns slowly to laugh at me |
